DALLAS – February 09, 2010 – Market Center Management Company (MCMC), the management company of GlobalTex: LA International Textile & Sourcing Fair™ today announced its schedule of seminars and special events for the upcoming edition of GlobalTex. The show will be held September 28-30, 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), West Hall, Hall A.
“Once again GlobalTex will offer a wide range of educational and networking opportunities, including relevant trend information and business insights,” said Cindy Morris, COO, Market Center Management Company. “We are excited to welcome Fiona Jenvey and her team from Mudpie back to the show, as well as to introduce a new seminar featuring David Wolfe of The Doneger Group. As always our goal is to offer useful industry information to attendees, and continue to inspire them through our innovative trend displays.”
Educational opportunities and special events for GlobalTex attendees will be held in the Seminar Suite conveniently located on the show floor (West Hall, Hall A).

Tuesday, March 2
Seminar: Spring/Summer 2011: Men’s Trend Focus; presented by Fiona Jenvey, CEO of Mudpie, Ltd. at 10:30 a.m. – the UK trend specialist will present an in-depth vision of global fashion trends for the young contemporary men’s, urban, casual and resort markets for spring/summer 2011. The presentation will include three trends of inspirational garments, prints, graphics and color.
Seminar: Trends for Spring/Summer 2011 and Autumn/Winter 2011/2012: presented by Renee Labbe vice president of Global Trends for STYLESIGHT at 12:15 p.m. – STYLESIGHT will display a two-part trend presentation for womenswear for spring/summer 2011 and autumn/winter 2011/2012 seasons. The first component of the presentation will be an in-depth analysis of the key design direction for spring/summer 2011 including essential moods, colors, materials, prints and silhouettes. The second component of the presentation provides an introduction to autumn/winter 2010, addressing essential mood and color directions for the season.
Hangzhou International Buyers Cocktail Reception: at 2 p.m. international buyers are invited to attend a networking event of industry associations, local and international chamber of commerce leaders, and members of the media to welcome the Hangzhou 2010 China International Silk Fair and Women’s Exhibition to GlobalTex.
Seminar: PeclersParis Spring/Summer 2011: presented by Sarah S. Brady exclusive agent for PeclersParis at 2:45 p.m. – Brady will present cultural and artistic influences with creative scenarios and aesthetic viewpoints of colors, materials and patterns for spring/summer 2011, with a look towards early autumn 2011-12.
Networking Wine Tasting: at 3 p.m. attendees will have the opportunity to meet other buyers from the textile industry and enjoy wine from the California wine country. In addition, there will be opportunities to explore the great resources that GlobalTex exhibitors have to offer.
Panel Discussion: Turning a Changed Economy into a Profitable Business Opportunity; presented and moderated by Frances Harder president and founder of Fashion Business, Inc. at 4 p.m. – The expert panel will discuss how to carefully plan and turn creative ideas into a profitable apparel related business. Topics covered will consist of planning, merchandising, branding, sales and international marketing opportunities for a U.S. fashion business.
Wednesday, March 3
Seminar: Spring/Summer 2011 Color and Lifestyle Trends; presented by Fran and Arnold Sude of Design Options, the West Coast Perspective at 10:30 a.m. – Attendees will learn about color and lifestyle trend direction for all markets in both apparel and home. The Sudes will inspire attendees to think outside the box in this new decade and show the West Coast approach to inter-industry color and lifestyle trends in junior/contemporary, young women’s, young men’s, kids and home fashion industries.

Panel Discussion: FabricLink’s Trend Watch: New Developments for Today’s Fashions; presented and moderated by Kathlyn Swantko president of FabricLink Network at 1:30 p.m. – A panel of leaders in the textile supply chain will highlight important developments in fibers/yarns, knit fabrics, woven fabrics, and dyeing and finishing techniques that will impact the creativity and innovation in fashion design going forward. Panelists include representatives from the following supply chain segments: Fiber/Yarn, Knit Fabric, Woven Fabric and Dyeing/Finishing.
Seminar: The Big Picture: Spring 2011, A Different World…New Perspectives: presented by David Wolfe creative director of The Doneger Group at 2:45 p.m. – Wolfe will present on new perspectives for 2011 that emphasize the immediate connection to the consumer, rethinking past trends, the return of true design versus mass production, ongoing attitudes, and how modern fashion will evolve to accommodate modern living.
Networking Wine Tasting: at 3 p.m. attendees will have the opportunity to explore the great resources that GlobalTex exhibitors have to offer while enjoying a glass of wine from the California wine country.
Panel Discussion: Financing Fashion in 2010; presented and moderated by Ilse Metchek president of California Fashion Association at 4 p.m. – A well-versed panel of experts will discuss the current state of the economy and its effect on the supply chain process as well as concerns and opportunities.
